Got an interesting email today from GarageBand:

It’s been over ten years since we started helping discover independent music on the ol’ interwebs. Things have changed a lot since then. Most of those changes have been good and some of them have been bad. Some changes are just bitter-sweet.

It’s with this bitter-sweetness that we are announcing today that Garageband.com will be discontinued as of July 15th, 2010.

The landscape of how music is discovered and delivered has changed drastically over the last decade and we are proud to have been a huge part of that change — first with Garageband.com and then with iLike.com and beyond. Sadly, that landscape will not include Garageband.com anymore.

If you want to continue to make your music available for streaming or download on iLike.com and the iLike application on Facebook, please go to iLike.com and login with your Garageband username and password by July 15th, 2010. This will automatically link your account to iLike so we can port your music, profile photo, and biography to iLike.com.

Finally, if you have recently made a purchase on Garageband.com and would like a refund, please email refunds@iLike-inc.com to request a refund. Valid refund requests must be received no later than July 31st, 2010.

So farewell GarageBand we will miss you

I had a complete momentary lapse of madness earlier on and decided to give away one of our albums for free, this free music download give away was an exclusive to fans that follow us on ReverbNation and an email was sent out to the hundreds of fans asking them to reply if they would like a free copy of one of albums.

Of course we had to limit the amount been given away, but so far the response has been great and I may even do this again sooner or later as another ReverbNation fan exclusive give away.

Those of you reading the blog will of seen that there has been some bad news and that there hasn’t been some posting for a while.

But never fear we are still busy working on the new album and we have even extended our contract with the awesome EML Recordings, so yes we are going to be bringing you a new album shortly.

A lot of you reading our blog and following us on Twitter will have noticed that we sell a lot of our music via the website BandCamp, we do this as it’s a way of earning all the proceeds from sales rather than giving it to the “middle man”

So each time you download an album or track from our BandCamp Store we earn more from the sales than we would anywhere else and therefore this helps us with promoting our music and paying for stuff like web hosting etc.

Also it gives us the option to charge what we want and the ability to set a low price and then you the fan can decide to pay that price or be generous and add a little on top Plus, we often give bonus tracks away with the releases as well as artwork etc all included in the download, something that you wouldn’t get anywhere else.

So please remember that downloading Remergence tracks from Bandcamp is best everyone and a little cheaper
